Pipework insulation details
Insulation for heating, chilled water and process pipework
Our work includes LTHW heating, chilled water, refrigeration, steam and condensate pipework, as well as water treatment and other mechanical services. We insulate straight runs, bends, tees and associated fittings, with protective finishes suited to the installation.
On hot services, insulation helps reduce unwanted heat loss. On cold services, a suitable insulation system and continuous vapour barrier help control heat gain and condensation. Material, thickness and finish depend on operating temperature, location and the project specification.
Materials selected for the installation
Depending on the specified application, materials can include mineral wool or fibreglass sections, phenolic insulation, elastomeric insulation such as Armaflex, and cellular glass such as Foamglas. We work to the agreed specification rather than applying one material to every system.
For external pipework and areas needing additional protection, we install aluminium cladding. Stainless steel cladding is another option where the environment or specification requires it. Cladding protects the insulation; it does not replace the insulation beneath it.
New mechanical installations and existing systems
We provide insulation as part of new mechanical packages, plant room upgrades and refurbishment works. On existing installations, we can replace missing sections, renew deteriorated insulation and reinstate insulation removed during maintenance.

Can you replace insulation on an existing system?
Yes. We carry out industrial insulation repairs and upgrades, including replacement of missing or damaged sections. The condition of the pipework and access arrangements are considered before the work is agreed.
Do you work outside Tipperary?
Yes. Lagforce undertakes industrial and commercial insulation projects throughout Ireland.
How much energy will new insulation save?
The benefit depends on the system temperature, operating hours, exposed area and existing insulation condition. We can identify practical improvements, but a quantified saving needs information specific to the installation.
