Formed cladding details
Protection for insulated pipework and equipment
Cladding is the outer protective finish around the insulation. It helps protect the installation from weather exposure and physical damage, while providing a neat, durable surface. The insulation underneath performs the thermal function, so both layers need to suit the system.
Applications include external heating and chilled water pipework, rooftop mechanical services, plant room pipework, vessels and HVAC ductwork. We form the sheet metal to suit straight runs, bends, tees, fittings and equipment geometry.
Fabricated to suit the installation
Each installation has its own sizes, shapes and access requirements. We fabricate the cladding around the insulation dimensions and agreed specification, considering joints, fixings, nearby equipment and any components that need future maintenance access.
Stucco aluminium is a commonly used finish. The appropriate sheet, finish and fixing arrangement depend on the project specification and exposure conditions. Where a different finish is required, we also provide stainless steel cladding.
External services and plant rooms
On outdoor installations, detailing at joints and terminations matters alongside the choice of material. Weather protection needs to be considered as part of the complete insulation and cladding system. In plant rooms, fitted cladding protects the insulation while giving the mechanical services a consistent finish.

Replacement and refurbishment
Missing panels, open joints and damaged cladding can leave insulation exposed. We can review the affected areas and agree replacement work. If insulation beneath the cladding has deteriorated, it should be addressed as part of the repair rather than simply covered over.
We work with mechanical contractors on new projects and undertake insulation repairs and upgrades for existing facilities. Access, work sequencing and the condition of the installation are considered when agreeing the scope.

Can you replace cladding without renewing all the insulation?
Where the underlying insulation remains suitable and in good condition, targeted cladding replacement may be possible. We need to consider the condition of the affected installation before agreeing the work.
